“Motion Picture Masterpieces” DVD From Warner Home Video
(July 3, 2006 - Burbank, CA) – On October 10, five film masterpieces, adapted from literary classics and made during Hollywood’s golden era, debut on DVD in Warner Home Video’s Motion Picture Masterpieces collection. All five are from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, known then as the “Tiffany of movie studios”: David O. Selznick’s Oscar®-nominated screen translations of Charles Dickens’ "David Copperfield" and "A Tale of Two Cities"; the 1940 Laurence Olivier/Greer Garson version of Jane Austen’s "Pride and Prejudice"; Robert Louis Stevenson’s "Treasure Island," featuring the irresistible re-teaming of Wallace Beery and Jackie Cooper; and the opulent "Marie Antoinette," starring Tyrone Power and Norma Shearer in her unforgettable performance as France’s tragic queen. The five-disc collection will sell for $49.92 SRP with individual titles available for $19.97 SRP. Orders are due September 5.
